You can add the Fullhouse draw to your audibles and use the quick audible right to get to this play! Flip the play to have Y run the quick route rather than LB. Also, you can use quick run audible (down) to pound it in. Use this on 4th and short as well!

Hello MB Nation, here we have compiled our forum members and our best blitzes of the season. Now, my basic set up is a simple FS in the B Gap, with a Contain DT and a Spy DE. But, if your looking to really attack the offense, we have put together the 11 best Madden 11 blitzes below!

Get in the lab!

1. Contain Defense
Started By SGibs after taking on Harlem and S-Jack in back to back “Games of the Week” Gibs knew he needed a way to slow down Mike Vick users online. He labbed and added the “Contain D” which has taken over for “Goaline D” last year. Mobile QB’s are on lock, and 3rd and 10 is a nightmare!
Bonus: By rushing one side (3 guys) and then Spy DT, Purple DE, and User LB, you still get great heat that you can call on almost every down!

2. WTK’s Nickel Normal – Over Storm Brave
1. Spread DL
2. Show Blitz [This places both MLBs near DT.. You can leave the left MLB where he is an contain him, but I would move him over DT then press circle to switch to the right MLB & put him over the right DT.]
3. Blitz LDE
4. Switch to left MLB & Contain him over DT
5. Press Circle & Put right MLB in any zone you prefer
6. Blitz RDE
[AS WITH ALL CONTAIN D NANOS, RUN IT OPPOSITE THE RB.]

User the FS..Check your assignment.. at the snap, if he blocks, drop in coverage or rush.. You can also user the MLB you AREN’T containing..

3. 4-3 “Wall” by WFColonel
This Blitz and concept by Colonel Screams with his Atlanta Falcons. His overall knowledge and amazing topic on all aspects of the 4-3 is a top forum thread at Madden Bible, thanks for getting everyone up to speed on the 4-3!

4. Chad Cover 4 D
Chad plays a unique style of defense forcing the opponent to take long drives and work his way up field. We had him Live in studio to break down his defense!

5. Tylers 1-5-5 Tourney Defense!
Ty brought a similar gameplan to Chad but out of a totally different formation, he had a quick setup that kept his opponents off balance!

6. Ballaman 2 Man Nano
It is a 2 man blitz with one contain and cannot be slide protected against. I understand Tyler on here has the same concept as this blitz, but this takes it one step farther. Here you go, vid included.

This can be ran out of any play in the Nickel 2-4-5 regardless of whether the OLB’s are standing up or on the ground. I choose to run the play 9 Velcro as the base D for this blitz due to a 4 deep shell and 2 flat zones as well.

Setup:

1. Shift LB’s right
2. Contain #2 MLB and shift LB’s left after that
3. Put #2 MLB over top of the LT like in video. Put him right on the line if under center and at the hip depth wise of the DT if in shotgun.
4. Reblitz ROLB(left of screen) globally
5. Put #2 DT in spy or yellow in undercenter, spy only in shotgun
6. Reblitz the #1 DT
7. If time permits, stack the #1 MLB over the #1 DT.

It looks like a lot of setups presnap but I promise you once you get quick with it, you will get them all done before they can quick hike you. The reason I stack that LB is once you get them worried about the left side blitz and they start using a back to block it, use the contain D on the right to hit them up for an easy sack. Watch the vid to see the placements of the LB’ers and how effective the blitz is.

Results:

Vs undercenter: With no slide protection, blitz comes around the edge everytime. With slide protect aggressive, pinch, or right: blitz always comes around. Vs slide protect left: Blitz will still come off the edge but the DT will also come through unblocked.

Vs shotgun: No matter what if placed correctly that LB will come off the edge. If they slide protect left, that contain will also come from the right unblocked when they think they are safe.

7. Boldin 3 Man Blitz

34 Predator-Weak Blitz or Weak Blitz 3
Setup:*Setup is as looking at the screen: LOLB=Left side, RDE=Right side
-Contain the DT
-Put the RDE in any zone
-Slide D Line Left
-Reblitz LOLB(RB/R1+Right Stick-Left)
-Reblitz LMLB and Put as shown in the video

8. Blanco Blitz

46 Normal – Pocket Contain (speed package)
1. move the left of screen LB on a contain directly over the LG on the line. He needs to be close enough to take his attention, but far enough to clear the DT when he loops.
2. Move the right of screen linebacker a yard or so back from the contain linebacker and blitz him over the LT.
3. Playmaker the SS to a flat zone.
4. Playmaker the LDE (right of screen) to a purple zone.
5. Man up the slot cornerback (originally on a spy) on nearest receiver.

The reason this play works is because the contains of the RDE and LOLB create a gap as the O lineman slide to cover them. The blitzing ROLB comes clean right through that gap. If they start slide protecting to that side, leave the SS and LDE on their blitzing routes and change the linebackers in coverage (but position them the same). The pressure will come very quickly off the other edge

9. Mega Blitz! (Megatron showed MB this unslideprotectable blitz for 3rd and long!)

Madden 11 Tips : Chad’s Cover 4 Defense!

On “This Week In Madden” Show 47, “Teh Chad” showed us his Cover 4 Defense!

The Defensive concept behind Chad’s defense is to make the offense score in 15+ plays! (Pats 8:00 min drive vs Jets?) Chad believes that he can force you to make a mistake on one of those plays before you score.

Intro To Unbumpable Routes in Madden 11

Unbumpables

Are we being bumped? Which WR’s are being bumped? Why are they bumping us?

First, you must recognize if the defense IS playing bump and run. It is a strategy that good players use to bring pressure and throw off timing. “Pressing the WR” has been effective year after year in Madden. If the CB’s slide up close to your WR’s then that is a sign. Also if after the snap they seem to get “pressed” at the line thats another sign.

Both DB's can't attack these WR's at the snap!

Bump and run is usually Man to Man.
However flat zones often bump to throw the WR off and let the WR run by into another zone (but his timing will be off)

Another reason the defense plays bump is because they are about to bring pressure.
If you see the blitz coming, you want to make your hot read and get the ball out as soon as possible. So, you hike it and go to throw but the Defender is all over your WR which is legal within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. When your WR finally gets free (and often wide open) the pressure from the blitz is already there.

Why is bumping bad for the defense? It often comes without alot of safety help over the top. If the WR beats the bump and run, he is often wide open and the blitz won’t have arrived at the QB yet. Many big gains are made against bump and run when the WR is still able to get the ball early in his route.

Now, here is how to beat the bump!
Look to the RB’s - RB’s dont start on the line of scrimmage, they are next to the QB so the defense physically can NOT bump them when the play starts. They can’t line someone up in your backfield to press him so they are off the hook! Look to leak the RB to where the blitz is coming from, OR keep him in to pick up the pressure and give your WR’s more time to get open.

Find routes that are hard to bump. – The C route in single back tight doubles WR corner is a money route. Instead of it running straight ahead to start (like almost every route, think about it) it takes a quick diagonal cut first. So when you hike it, you run left and the DB goes straight ahead to bump you but your already running away instead of AT Him!

Find unbumpable formations - Bunch sets are hard to bump. There are 3 WR’s standing very close to each other and you need to put the DB’s in a tight space revealing that you are playing“man coverage” Another reason is because one of the WR’s wont be on the line of scrimmage, he will be a few steps back from the line giving him more time to get off the bump. Lastly, the 3 WR’s often “work off eachother”. Thats 6 players in a small space running picks and routes and its alot to cover in that little space especially if you know where your WR’s are going.

Use motion – Lastly, my favorite way to smash the bump is motion. If you are running sideways along the line of scrimmage when the ball in snapped, its impossible for the DB to slide along with you and bump when the ball is hiked. The only problem is that just 1 man can be motioned at a time before the snap. So you must make sure that WR is running a nice pattern that works well with motion. (C route above, PA WR In (singleback y trips screen play, Quick audible left)

Rules are you must have 7 players on the line of scrimmage

Split end (Z or SE): A receiver on the line of scrimmage, necessary to meet the rule requiring seven such players at snap. Where applicable, this receiver is on the opposite side of the tight end. The split end is farthest from center on his side of the field.
Flanker (X or FL): A receiver lining up behind the line of scrimmage. Frequently the team’s featured receiver, the flanker uses the initial buffer between himself and a defender to avoid jamming, legal contact within five yards of the line of scrimmage. The flanker is generally on the same side of the formation as a tight end. As with the split end, this receiver is the farthest player from the center on his side of the field. The flanker is probably lined up just like a split end except that he is just behind the line of scrimmage, being in the backfield and not on the line.
Slot receiver (Y or SL): A less-formal name given to receivers in addition to split ends and flankers (for example tight-ends who line up wide). These receivers line up between the split end/flanker and the linemen. If aligned with a flanker, the slot receiver is usually on the line of scrimmage, and if with a split end, off the line of scrimmage. As with the flanker position, a featured receiver often takes a slot position with a split end to avoid jamming.

Madden 11 Tips: How to read man or zone presnap!

Hello Madden Bible Nation, here is a quick guide on figuring out if the defense is in Man or Zone in Madden 11.

1. The “old” and most basic way is to motion a WR, if the defensive back follows the WR across the field he is in man. If the zone lets the WR run across the field, he is in zone.
If a defensive back is supposed to be covering someone, shouldn’t he be lined up across from him at the snap? Otherwise the QB would just do a “quick throw” to the WR!

With the new audible system though, WR’s can take a long time to get across the field and then all the way back so we have an easier way.

2. Come out in a bunch or compressed set like Shotgun Snugs. If the defensive backs are lined up over the WR’s at the start its man. However if they “slide in” at the start, its zone coverage.

Determining Man or Zone coverage is the single most important factor in becoming a good Madden 11 player. If you can read the defense and know how to beat both coverages, you are at an advantage when the ball is snapped.

Vs Man - We run the Canoe or Slot Trail, Drags, Stick.
Vs Zone – We Flood the area with WR’s. If he has 3 defenders playing deep, we make sure 4 WR’s attack the area and hit the open player. Check out SGibs 4 Verticals Scheme

After you determine the coverage, you only need to look for blitzing players and make protection adjustments before calling hike and scoring touchdowns!

Here is a look at how to set up the double contain blitz to slow down mobile qb’s like Mike Vick.

Formation : 4-6
Package – Speed
Play: Inside Blitz
Spread the Line
Reblitz both DE’s down
Contain both linebackers and place over DT’s.
User safety on RB.
FIRE!

You can also set this up on one side, and user the LB. Make sure to make it look the same. Slide protection can pick it up, but you get better coverage, still get some mean heat only rushing 3 guys!
