and also whats the deal with the colts and bengals on here?i played em back to back, all they do is throw to jordan shipleys slow ass and austin collie plays like jerry rice even though hes short and slow.its like the teams have no other number 1 receivers.ocho got 3 catches shipley had 11,wayne had 4 catches, collie had 14.its a joke.and i dont run alot of zone either i play man to man 4-6 blitzes.speed means nothing on this game when it comes to passing.desmond briscoe of the bengals is slow as a snail for a wr and he replaced shipley after i wacked him,and he got 6 catches for 62 yards also.i have tight ends faster than them and cant get one pass to them without being covered.

ok since u erased my last post, its simple.the game cheats and gets jealous when u are winning.i defy anyone who thinks they are great at the game to try to get a shutout.with all the random fumbles and speed rushes and d lines jumping thru into the backfield at anytime,u will not shut them out easily.theres always gonna be a picked screen an int a slow wr getting deep on your best corner ,someway somehow they will score on you.and watch how many times no matter what the score is,that the cpu scores with under 2 mins to go before the half and before the end of the game.its like its mandatory that they score with 113 on the clock or 38 secs on the clock before halftime or the end of the game.almost every game.only way i have seen to stop this is blitz every down and try to get the qb before he throws,or just hold onto the ball the whole game and win 17-0.

I have been playing Madden since the beggining and this years version is a let down with all the additions it has. To begin I do not like the strat pad for many reasons. I use the D-pad to run and now I'm forced to use the stick. Believe it or not it makes a big difference when trying to track down a player using it. players tend to overshoot the ball carrier. Next by changing the way you call audibles on either side , offense or defense, it now add a step and you have less time to perform and last second adjustments. for example if you wanted to slide the D-line down, blitz a corner have the saftey pick up his man and the line backer on that side to drop back into a zone you would still be adjust after the play has been called. I'm sure there are plenty of gamers out there would love to make adjustments like these to confuse their human and computer opponents but with the given "chages" to this years game we have toadjust to running the play picked. last years version was the best by far and had a easier learning curve to the controls. Also to add the comentating is one area the designers should has put more thought into. If you watch a football game on tv you hear the announcers having more dialog about the game, stats the players themselves and madden seems to deliver this in a play by play blah, blah way... The addition of the new guy Gus Johnson was nice it just seems to have lots of silence during the game. The NBA games do a wonderful job in this area and should be copied into Madden

I think its good that they will have a patch for the strat pad. I am an avid fan of madden but seriously, changes like this make it time for some competition in football video gaming. EA has clearly gotten complacent without any competition to push the envelope.

I'm with you, ZFarls. It's one of those things that make you say, "Huh? Really?" You just don't see regression coming. You expect innovation . . . not a step back, despite the "spin".

Ian Cummings's post hints to the data showing issues . . . and I have to respect that they're looking at this. Data tells the truth. My issue, however, is that not all Madden Gamers fall into the same bucket. I'm not saying that EA should cater to the 10% of the community that play tournaments or are highly competitive online (i.e. "hardcore"), but it's nice that they're in the process of reverting the controls for us.

There's a little bit of a business study here - what happens to your brand (product, service, etc.) when you make changes that upset or alienate your most hardcore fans? I mean, after all, it's us that interact the most online through blogs, Twitter, message boards, etc. Frankly, it's us that drives demand - Madden Nation on ESPN wasn't first-time players that were getting stuck in hot route mode. When they show MJD as the spokesperson in commercials, he's not the kind of player that they're catering to, either. There is a disconnect there.

Ultimately, perhaps you make changes based on the data for the other 90% of your consumers (i.e. the "mainstream") . . . but you have to be real careful how you handle your 10% of most hardcore fans. The bottom line is that it's us who drive the most demand for the game - not commercials or the EA blog.

It's great to see EA learning their lesson here and reverting the controls back for us. And let's be honest - if the Strategy Pad worked even halfway decent, there wouldn't be this uproar. It's poorly designed and cumbersome - the problem isn't so much our rejection of "change", but terrible design. History might not be written that way, but that's the real deal.
