1.It is located in the hub of the Madden Community
It can not be over stated that geographically or talent wise that the Philly and Baltimore area is an absolute Madden Hotbed. We all know the east coast is the dominant coast and this location gives New Yorkers, Bostonians and even those from the sunshine state a good but not overbearing drive to play some Madden. A good percentage of the top ballers of all time hail from this general 100 mile area. What are the reasons that these players are the best out there? Well the level of competition and the general barber shop scene are strong here. Although If I had to guess I would probably say the cheesesteaks.
2. It has a reputation of being the best big player tournament out there
With all of the big names that have attended year after year and those who have taken it down, everyone knows the best always show up. Everyone has had time to hone their game and get onto an equal playing field. Now in the Holiday Inn nobody has an excuse except that they just weren’t good enough. The top dogs are all in the room here and everyone is aware. If you want to be someone in the Madden Community than Players Bowl, NOT the Madden Challenge is where you need to be!
3. It helps bring closure to the Madden Season
The superbowl and Madden Challenge have passed over this years version and since free agency and the NFL draft dont really take effect until Madden 2010 this game is starting to take its final resting place on many peoples shelves. However, the hardcore gamers still ball hard and the one thing that keeps them going is the competitive level they know they must play at to win at Players Bowl! This is not a joke tournament, Don’t bring your A game and you will be buying back more than a junkie.
The other tournaments out there are nice if they are in your area, but Players Bowl is the last big one. Most people will train hard for it and give it their all. Then despite a couple games here and there, they wait on the new version of Madden and any tidbit they can find out about it? Wildcat anyone?
4. Top Taylor will be on the mic!
If you have never been to a Madden Challenge then you are missing out big time. We here at the Madden Bible enjoy Curly Top about as much as anyone can.
He gives the best pre tournament speeches by far and always reminds you that “you will not win this tournament.” He is a dominant force and clearly runs the show over his partner Rico Hollywood Williams. Curly is noticeable with his fresh to death shades, golden controller necklace, and crazy twang on his accent. I do a pretty good impression which I will have to save for a podcast sometime. In the beginning of the Baltimore madden video me and him were goofing and they put it on the ESPN video.

Anyway I did a great impression (off camera) so he grabbed the camera guy. However I then only had like 20 seconds so i tried to condense it but it came out poor. Instead of the Kayaker it was him staring into the camera and it was pretty sick. Anyway that’s my curly top story and he makes the tourney worth attending if your close and will keep you entertained if you lose.
5. It gives the big players recognition and helps the little guys get noticed
We already learned that all the top players will be there so if you want to be one or consider yourself one than get to Philly for this tournament! Look at some of the players who have won this thing! Big Gene, Big Game James and the Problem! They weren’t all the biggest names in madden first but if you ever have hopes and dreams of getting on that bus than you better start here. This is the madden community all in one room, time to shine!
6. It has gotten great exposure this year
With the advent of the EAFL radio show which helps tournament directors to develop their tournaments, Players Bowl has been able to get even bigger. The success of past players bowl and endorsement from top players means that in its seventh year, Players Bowl will be bigger than ever. The online development of communities, gaming and leagues all factors into the massive amount of exposure that this tournament receives. Since its well run and respected players keep coming back and bringing more and more members of their crew which has helped this tournament become the best out there!
