Five Things To AVOID on Madden Challenge Day!

Five Things to Avoid at all Costs on Madden Challenge Day

1. 15 minutes of fame:

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BE THE GUY WHO MAKES A VICTORY GUARANTEE INTO THE CAMERA! THIS IS NOT ONLY A SUREFIRE WAY TO MAKE YOURSELF A TARGET IN THE CHALLENGE, BUT IT IS ALSO A GOOD WAY TO GO THROUGH SEVERE PUBLIC SHAMING BY YOUR FELLOW COMPETITORS AND THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS. PEOPLE WHO MAKE THESE GUARANTEES ARE JOKES WAITING TO BE EMBARRASSED.

2. Stranger Danger:

Keep in mind that despite what you may think, there is absolutely NOBODY at the MC besides the guys you came with that are your friends. Do not be tricked into thinking that the guy who you talked to while you were standing in line is your friend, because it will only get you in trouble. Madden players are deceitful as all hell, everyone should be aware of this fact. If a strange guy is complimenting you and striking up conversation, it‘s not because he wants to be your friend, rather he’s just fishing for information. Don’t ever reveal any of your secrets or strategy to a stranger, because it will come back to haunt you when it counts.

3. Intimidation:

The whole scene of the Madden Challenge can be very intimidating, especially to first time competitors. Now many of you are reading this and saying, “Nah not me only chumps get nervous,” but it is simply not true. Even the best and most experienced Madden players still get nervous on some level, so it is important to be aware of the effect nerves can have on a game. Some of your opponents may get up in your face, yelling loudly and making idle threats, but you need to remain calm. The best way to get back at a cocky and loud opponent is to not fight back with words, but to beat them on the field. Of course after you get the win then throw in a wise comment or two, but make sure you get the victory first.

Also keep in mind that as you progress into the later rounds there will be more and more people focusing on your game. A lot of inexperienced competitors do not have any experience playing in front of a crowd of a few hundred people yelling and screaming, so it is obvious how this can hinder someone’s performance. Remember, always stay calm and just pretend you’re back in the basement playing your friend, it’s the best way to keep from giving your MC hopes and dreams away through a panic induced mistake. Below I have listed some other very important information to keep in mind when the big day comes.

4. Overkill:

When you have your opponent down make sure you don’t get lost in the emotion of a close victory and do something foolish like try to run the score up. This seems like something that only an idiot would do, but emotion can be very powerful, and so can the urge to rub it in your opponents face, especially if he has been talking smack in your ear all game. A win is a win, so when the time comes just bring in the victory formation, take a knee, and tell your opponent to get the next bus ticket home.

5. Loud Noises:

Between Curly Sticks yelling into the mic, the music, the cameramen, the smack talk, the thousands of jersey –wearing Madden baller wannabees, you will have to run the gauntlet when it comes to distractions. The key to success at the Madden Challenge is to always remain calm and stick to your game plan. If you can keep focus on your goals to win the MC, and take it one game at a time, you’ve already won half the battle, all that’s left is to go out, execute your plan and win the game.

If you stick to the five tips listed above then you will be in great position to dominate your regional Madden Challenge. Remember, you could be the best player in the world, but if you don’t carry yourself like a champion and keep a cool head, you will inevitably meet your doom at the Madden Challenge. Good luck to all the competitors who read this article, and I hope it helps you make the most of your Madden Challenge experience.
